This piece is part of a series of paintings incorporating clothing and textiles from the artist’s past. The lace and sheer fabric in this work come from garments she wore in her youth or net curtains from her childhood home, preserving personal history within the artwork. These delicate materials are ‘frozen’ in time, attached to 120 squares of mirror, each individually painted with glass paints. The mirrors not only fragment and reflect the viewer’s image but also cast their shadow into the work, momentarily drawing them into another time and place.
