In this work, 25 circular reflective metal discs are arranged in a precise 5×5 grid within a square box frame. This structured composition explores the relationship between repetition, reflection, and variation, inviting viewers to engage with both order and fluidity.
Each disc, with its translucent layers of paint, interacts dynamically with light, shifting in appearance depending on the viewer’s position. The reflective surfaces capture fragments of the surrounding environment, making the piece ever-changing and responsive. Despite their uniform placement, no two discs are identical – each holds a unique design, colour, and texture, emphasising individuality within structure.
The grid, a fundamental organisational system in both nature and human design, represents balance, stability, and infinite possibility. Yet, within its rigidity, the interplay of colour and light introduces movement, breaking the illusion of total uniformity. The square frame further reinforces this tension, containing the organic nature of reflection within a defined boundary.
