“Patchwork in Stone” is composed of blocks of many different types of stone, including granite, quartz, limestone, and marble. This diverse range of stone was available to the artist during her art residency at the Feelystone factory in Boyle. Inspired by her surroundings there, she sandblasted a symbol or design onto each of the 55 blocks that make up the sculpture.

The artist’s residency at Feelystone in Boyle provided her with the opportunity to work with materials and processes she had not previously explored. Eager to investigate the possibilities of stone, she took advantage of the technologies available to her. The residency allowed her to expand her sculptural methods and develop a strong foundation in a new medium.
